Another spot I wish I could give a 3.8 to. This place was suggested by a few friends, and it was good, not great. I'm going to assume, based on one person who is insanely knowledgable of burger joints across the country who suggested this place, that it is not what it used to be or it was just an off night. The menu is super simple, fine, which is no issue for me. The burgers seemed to be missing a salt and pepper. Down and dirty, simple, and the potato was fine. Would I come back, sure, but am I rushing back, no.
Listen... if you're in town and looking for a whole in the wall with strong a$$ drinks and absolutely delicious burgers and wait not fries but loaded baked potatoes.. then go to Port Of Call. Thank God my hotel was in walking distance. Every time I'm in town I go to this place and it never disappoints. Great customer service as well! Oh... and they also serve steaks too!
An old favorite of mine for decades. Always get the same thing: mushroom cheeseburger, baked potato with cheese and bacon bits. I get that there a lot of people think that there are more refined offerings out there and that the bacon bits are tacky, but they've rarely disappointed in over 20 years of coming here, there's a classic ambiance, and lots of great memories so they will always have my vote.
Burgers, baked potatoes, AND strong drinks? Amazing, please sign me up again. Our Uber driver actually recommended this place and we were SO happy about that, because this place felt very local and not touristy at all. The menu is super simple, food is good, and the drinks were crazy strong. I finished everything on my plate because my half of the drink we shared gave me the serious drunchies. Love this spot!
Been waiting to try this place and final made the time on this visit. We were lucky and there was no wait to get seated. We ordered the famous mushroom cheese burger and the baked potatoes with sour cream, scallions and bacon bits. Just after we put order order in the place got instantly full. We both got our burgers and baked potato, burger patties were thick. We ordered our burgers medium well and we got medium burgers. Not a biggie, was impressed that the burgers did not bleed from being medium. The meat was soft and juicy. Now here is where I have an issue, the meat had no real flavor to it, it lacked seasoning. Don't take me wrong it was good, but it could have been better, and it really didn't have a ton of cheese. The baked potatoes was great and the service was good as well. Has an old school pub vibe, not much of a restaurant feel to it.
We were recommended this place by a friend who use to live in the area for a bit and boy, are we glad we listened because this had one of the best cheeseburgers I ever tasted. The decor was that of an old pirate feel. The service was quite excellent and as for drinks please try the monsoon. Its one size souvenir cup lasted the whole day....totally didn't need another drink for a while.
The best burgers in the city of Nola. Food is so good and consistent every time. Service never disappoints. This is one you must add to your Nola restaurant list. They have the basic but delicious burgers and steaks. A staple in the city. Trust me on this one. Port Of Call has been the GEM of the New Orleans French Quarter since the 1960's, and for good reason: They have consistantly been voted THE BEST BURGER IN THE CITY!
We were referred here by an employee at our resort and when I tell you the 20 minute walk was well worth it!! Small bar and grill but big burgers and awesome drinks. We sat at the bar taking in the vibe, great music was playing while we waited, we didn't wait long either. We had the Mushroom Cheeseburgers, mine with Swiss his with Cheddar. The burgers came out with huge Baked Potato with sour cream, lettuce tomato and onion(next time I would ask for sautéed onions) and any condiment you need. BTW they don't sell Hurricanes they sell Monsoons!! Restaurant is located just outside the French Quarter, we walked and took in the sites about 20 minutes from our resort. Esplanade had a few historic markers so we got some great historic facts. Also it's located around the
Ok...This spot is the REAL DEAL! I heard from locals on my last trip but didn't get the opportunity to stop by! Prior to this visit to New Orleans I saw this establishment on ya Food Show and made this a 'to-do' on this visit! The interior is super dark and made me think..what y'all hiding in here? I'll tell you what they hiding...The Best Burgers in New Orleans! The burgers are served with a baked potato! Both were yummy! The drinks offered come in regular and Jumbo...go for the jumbo...if you don't finish you can get a to-go cup! Make this a spot to check out if you visit! The bar staff were chill and friendly! The space is small...there is some outdoor seating, but be prepared to wait at peak hours! There was a good balance of locals and tourists..so I felt this is a good sign of this place must serve good food consistently!
